S4 TII water temp sensor install

Where should I install my autometer water temp sensor? Drill and tap the water pup housing? Any help? Thanks.. My engine is apart right now also..

its best to put it in the stock location if it npt1/8" if not then i would do the upper rad hose, thats wat im doing if i cant get it into the stock location. supposedly its the hottest part on the motor or something

Wrong, the best place is to drill and tap the wp housing..

Why? Wouldn't you want to know the water temperature at the rear rotor rather than right after the t-stat opens?

Why don't you ask Madza? I'm sure various locations were researched by a bunch of their enginners before that one was decided on.

The problem with the stock location is that very few aftermarket senders fit, and you should not use adaptors because they space the sensor out of the coolant flow. The next best location is a drilled and tapped hole in the water pump under the thermostat.

The radiator hose is a bad location, as a stuck-closed thermostat will cause a cold temp reading even as the engine boils...
