PA S4 T2 w/ rtek 1.7

I have an S4T2 without cats and precats and with hi-flo glass packs. It also has the high flow air intake. Right now the boost will creep really bad and really quick.

I don't really care much about making more hp, I just want to keep the boost manageable enough not to blow the engine.

So, can I get by with installing 720cc secondaries and a Rtek 1.7.

The Rtek, 720s & a bigger fuel pump (FD, walbro...) will keep your engine from blowing, but it won't do anything to help keep your turbo from nuking itself. Pushing over about 12 psi for any extended time seriously reduces bearing life in the stock turbo.

I just have the stock boost gauge so I'm not exactly sure how much boost is creeping to, but I think it is more than 12psi at 5500 rpm.

Peak boost will be at 3500-4000 rpm. After that, the compressor starts choking and the boost will drop off towards redline. Get an aftermarket boost gauge, and look for a spike in that range.

hey you guys still get chokes when boosting for more than 6 seconds with the RTEK?
I am currently running S4 stock, and i find it choking and jerking alot when i boost it over 5-6secs? I thought it was a fuel defencer that i need, but i'm currently thinking of a Rtek or a Haltech..I have 720 injectors as secondary and a FD fuel pump for the build.

You're boost creeping (8.6 psi or more) and hitting fuel cut. An FCD, Rtek or standalone ECU will eliminate this. Porting the wastegate will then become necessary to prevent your engine from blowing due to insane boost spikes. The stock S4 wastegate is tiny. S5 is much larger, but still not enough unported.

I can't believe how small the stock S4 wastegate is. I couldn't even fit my pinky finger all the way in it. Like others have said you need to seriously port your wastegate. Here is mine before and after porting.
