S4 t2 axle question

I know that the s5 t2 axles are different sizes between left and right and the s4 t2 are suppost to be the same size. Well I found on the mazdatrix site that some s4 t2 from 1987 have a longer stub shafts. Has anyone has any input on this? My Question is that I bought a s4 t2 diff and one half shaft. Im in need of another one and dont know if one from an 88 t2 will fit because I believe I have the 87 stub shaft (6 1/4) because I can see that mine have the piece that looks like a seal. Any inputs? here is the link

Stub shafts and axels are 2 different components. The internal length of the stub shaft varied by year (as did the type of diff) but the axles, afaik stayed the same.

It seems like you're making a mountain out if a mole hill. The bolt pattern for all turbo axles is the same, thus all turbo axles will bolt to all turbo diffs. As long as its NOT an n/a axle it should work. I have installed booth s4 t2 and s5 t2 axels on 87' and 88' t2 diffs and didn't notice any significant difference.

Just wanted to make sure the stub shaft lenght doesnt affect the lenght of the axle.
