As long as it is a N/A tranny, S4 and S5 are completely compatible. Direct swap.

*edit* - unless its an auto.. then I think there are some differences in wiring and junk..but Ive never messed with an auto tranny so I dont know for sure.

The S4 and S5 trannys are wired up a bit different. It doesn't matter what kind of manual tranny. The only thing that will not work is a non turbo tranny on a turbo engine. It won't work because the turbo flywheel is bigger in diameter and won't fit in the non turbo bell housing.

neutral safety and reverse lights are all that need to be rewired. See "auto to manual transmission swap" or something like that in the archived section. Its the writeup i used for wiring, worked 100%.
