S4 and S5 Tranmissions, are they interchangeable?

S4 and S5 Tranmissions, are they interchangeable?

Hey whats up people, I have an 87 gxl and was wondering if my buddies s5 transmission would bolt up to my car? if so what else would i need, the driveshaft, would that even hook up to my rearend?

Providing the S5 trans is from an N/A it will work as long as you use the crossmember that goes with that S5 trans. Everything else will install fine.

i thought you used the crossmember according to the chassis

thank you, i appreciate the answer! just now have to get my hands on a s5 crossmember.....always something! lol I did an auto to manual swap and I was the tranny i had was bad and that would have to get a new and now the time has come to get a new one! lol

Nope, the trans crossmembers bolt to the transmissions differently.

Well, if you did a auto to manual swap you probably don't have the factory ears on the floor pan, but a custom made mount instead. Better check it out.
