S4 to S5 questions
Recently when my rear end in my 88 n/a went out, I went to the local yard and was able to get a very nice driveshaft and joints from an S5 n/a.
Question is that the joints and driveshaft went right in, and everything ran extremely smooth, however there's a very loud THUD whenever the throttle engages. Or from what I can tell, every time the driveshaft turns suddenly.
I'm thinking about purchasing a tii s4 tranny, and differential. Should I just get the S5 tii tranny? Will I have to do a lot of modifications to fit it? The setup if I do that will be an S5 TII tranny, S5 N/A Driveshaft, and S5 Differential. Any opinions on this?

check your front diff mount first
make your thread title a little more detailed. "S4 to S5" is so common it might be ignored. "Loud thump when clutch is released" is a better thread title.

I think someone told me this. And I did, seems to be in tact, no signs of hard wear. I don't think it's going to give out on me. At least not for the time being. I'm not sure the noises I'm hearing is caused by that.

it's to hard assess visually......mine looked fine when looking at it , but once removed it was split in two.....It's worth the change.....no more thudding when changing gears and power isn't wasted

Just removed it and played with it a bit and yeah it's not looking good. I'm gonna pick one up off mazdatrix. Next question is the transmission issue... wat kinda issues am I looking at if I get a S4 TII tranny and run it with a S5 N/A driveshaft?
