the S4 and S5 motors run the same port timing and port duration, the difference in in the thickness of the casting near the upper dowel, the S5 motors have thicker casting in this area and therefore will handle a bit more DETONATION before CRACKING.

Believe me NO ONE in New Zealand is making enough HP to crack end plates from sheer HP force - TRUST ME on that one. Reasilistically unless you are going to be making 500+HP stick with the series 4 plates. i doubt you'll make much more HP than that cause there is MAJOR lack of knowledge in this country, which is mainly caused by ignorance and arrogance about the TRUTH about turbo fed rotary's

if you have ICQ or MSN do feel free to contact me

Yep, and I'd like a show of hands of those tuner who claims to be able to tune a rotary WITHOUT running into detonation.&nbsp I'm not stupid enough to even claim to be THAT good.&nbsp Unless you're like the top 5% of rotary tuners who know the engine so well to know it's tuning limits, you are going to run into detonation.&nbsp I doubt you can tune this good yourself HWO...

I had a very interesting conversation with a big powered FC that just blew his motor up - 25psi of boost!&nbsp Most people just cannot hear detonation with a turbo spinning that kinda power!&nbsp Engine damaged?&nbsp One cracked apex seal - one dented Zenki rotor!!!&nbsp I never thought ANYONE could dent one of those things!&nbsp This just goes to show how SEVERE the detonation was, and the owner did not hear it...

Surely you have heard about/seen the results of severe detonation with extra dowels and tougher seal haven't you ted? CAVED IN rotor faces....... i think mazdatrix have pics on their page

Seriously though ted, the turbo'd rotary scene in NZ is a f#$king joke. only in the past few months have a couple of other guys started to use Haltech's over power fc's or rechipped factory ecu's like 350HP is a trophy figure and guys are blowing 20psi to make it - cause their turbo's are too small on the exhuast side
