S4 and S5 AC component compatability.

I did a search but only found a nice thread on fixing, charging, and converting from r12 to 134a. I need to know what S5 AC components, mainly lines and compressor, can be swapped into an S4. Can anyone help?

To the best of my knowledge, you can swap the s5 components as long as they are of the same type. There were two different systems available, Sanden and Nippon Denso. I believe one was factory, and one was dealer installed. I don't think anything is compatable between the two.
Within the maker (I mainly have experience with Sandens) you can swap the compressor and the soft lines TOGETHER. The connectors that attatch to the compressor are different between series, but you should be able to seperate the soft lines from the hard lines. Be warned that they can be very hard to get off due to space available. Be careful not to damage the hard lines when removing them.

I hope so more can chime in. I'm trying to help a fellow member in Las Vegas who has an S4. I've got lots of S5 AC stuff. Just don't know if it is compatable. I suppose I should ask him if his S4 looks factory installed and go from there. Of course, he can read this thread also.
