S4 and S5

I've tried searching around but with no answer. Just wondering if a 86 GXL shell will be able to fit in a 91 TII engine. And if not, what would I need and where can I get em'. (i. e. motor mounts and such.)

It will be a direct bolt in. What you need to know is how much work it will be do get it running. To run it smartly, you'll need a tranny, driveshaft, and rear subframe also of the T2 type.

For more go to www.rotaryresurrection.com (Kevin Landers' site) go to tech, and turbo swap. Then review s5 into s4 engine. TONS of work. You'd be much better off just buying an S5 T2 car.

i'm doin it right now. its super easy, everything bolts right in. You need to swap the engine, tranny, driveshaft, LSD, and halfshafts to T2 parts. I'm using a standalone to control the engine. trying to use the stock ECU is pretty much impossible i think.

The only way to use the stock ECU is to use it for the year motor... S5 motor = S5 ECU.

Something that would prove to be a bigger problem when swapping across series as the harnesses do not match up.

Or swap front covers and MOPs and use a S4 engine harness modifed for use on a Turbo.

You also forgot to mention the tranny mounts will need to be swapped, and depending on where the motor came from, you may need to swap engine mounts.

And other things you forgot would be the starter, and clutch slave would also need to be swapped.
