S4 N/A TB Removal....searched!

i was thinking about swapping out TBs in my car. Removal of the TB seems pretty str8 forward just by looking at how it bolts to the dynamic chamber.....I did a search and everyone says that u must remove the UIM also. I don't understand why everyone says this. I have a spare UIM/Dynamic Chamber & TB...i put them together and it looks like theres just 4 nuts that hold the TB to the DC. Based on that, It looks like id just have to remove the rubber intake tube (that connects to the AFM), then use a long extension to unbolt at the 2 lower nuts....along with the 2 upper nuts, disconnecting the throttle cable and any vac lines. Am i missing something?

On S4s at least, the throttle body will hit the secondary fuel rail, and you won't be able to remove it. It's best to pull the dynamic chamber and TB as one.

I think I was able to get just the TB off when I had S5 manifolds/rails on my NA though.

I see. i understand unbolting the secondary fuel rail b/c the studs on the dc are too long to have the tb clear before hitting the rail, but having to remove the uim too just doesnt make sense to me.....my engine is pretty simplified...no airpump or any other crao that would get in the way

IIRC, you should be able to take it off after removing the secondary fuel rail. IDK though, I always just take the whole UIM with it, since I have no rat's nest or anything so it only takesw like 10 minutes to get it all off.
