it will be possoble if you splice the wires... you will have to use the s4 ecu in the s5 but since you have a donor car you have to pull the plugs out of the s4 car and cut the wires in the s5 car and remove the plugs then wire it up....you will need a wiring diagram for both cars so you can match up the wires into the correct place on the plug.....i think you can find the diagrams on www.teamfc3s.org somewhere

I just did this swap and I finally got her to idle and run pretty decently now. Just drove 139 miles with no major problems. So there's a few things that I think you should know about first before making this switch.

All I did was replace the front cover on the s4 with the s5 front cover. And I blocked off the EGR. I didn't have to but I also blocked off the ACV for the RB down pipe I'm using.

I did not change out the ECUs. I think this is unecessary. But thats my opinion.

One real big hang up I had on getting it to run and idle smothly is that the s5 sat for about a year and the gas went stale. So I would recommend that you get some type of very strong fuel additive if you have a similair situation.

Another problem you'll probably run into is tunning the VDI to operate with the s4 block. I'm pretty sure that my VDI is still not fully opening. The reason I think this is occuring is because the s4 block is rated at a lower compression and therefore changed the amount of vacuum pressure in the system thus affecting the VDI Valve. (but that's only my guess)

Its worth it and this swap can be done. Its just a matter of fine tunning it once you get it to run and Idle.

It will also probably never run as good as a working s5 motor would no matter what you do. But it is cool to be able to run the s4 while you rebuild the s5, which is exactly what I am doing.

Good luck.

kewl thanks for the info i just talked to the seller some more and he does have all the s5 motor parts in a box but the s4 one was a brand new motor from mazda and it has 80k on it so if i can pop it in temp and use it as a secondary motor once i get the s5 motor built up that would be my best course i thinks
