S4 MAF on a S5 13b
I just bought a FC S5. I want to install my Weapon R Filter (4"). But it is kind of hard since the maf on my fc is smaller compare to the s4. If i was to change the S5 MAF for a S4 MAF will that mess up my 13b?
its like asking your ecu to search the web...... it just wasnt designed to operate a flapper type mass air flow sensor! the maf's are completely different, hence, they register information differently! just purchase the right intake for your car, and problem solved!

It could work with the appropriate wiring changes and device like the S-AFC to adjust the signal.
However, it's far easier to just get the filter adapter. You can get them on eBay, from any of the vendors, or from the wreckers (look at late '80s BMWs). Many cars use the Bosch L-Jetronic EFI system like our cars and thus use a similar AFM. On a lot of cars you find that they have installed an adapter from the factory to connect the AFM to a round intake tube.

^maybe so but cake is right about it being easier just to get or make an adaptor. besides, wouldn't that be a step backwards? the flapper style AFM is possibly the most restrictive/turbulent component in a s4 intake setup from what i've heard. the sliding cone style allows more air to pass more smoothly.

Not true. The cone style was designed and used because it was cheaper for Mazda to produce. It actually will flow LESS air then the flapper.

Well, this what i have done. I remove my stock intake filter box, i went a bought a 4" to 3" rubber coupling. I put my Weapon R intake (4") to the coupling and from the coupling into the S5 MAF. So should i worry??
