I have LEDs for the ECU error codes mounted in the idiot light panel to monitor codes. Recently while driving it flashes up error 15, 1 long on 1 LED, 1 short on the other LED. The code only appears for a couple seconds and then goes away. If the intake air temp sensor is on its way out, what kinds of problems could that cause? I've been having cold start issues, but I don't see how they could be connected. Is part number 18-8450-N326 the correct sensor? It's the only air temp sensor I've found on Mazdatrix. Expensive little bastard...

See page 4A-28 of the FSM for the diagnostic procedure. You may have a loose connection. The IAT for the manifold is related to BAC valve operation according to the training manual (fuel and emissions control section) but it's hard to see if that alone is going to cause a major idle problem. There is another IAT sensor in the AFM itself which plays a bigger role in engine operation.
