Question S4 Headlight size

My friend is getting rid of his H4 HIDs would these fit my 88 vert? sorry for all the N00b questions but im a n00b

H4 HIDs would have improper optics and would scatter light all over the place.

You'll need a proper DOT approved projector housing retrofitted into a 6054 sealed beam housing... Even then it'd be of questionable legality because the RX-7 did not originally come with the option of HID lights, so any kit that makes a HID bulb fit into a Halogen housing would be illegal and completely unsafe.

Believe it or not you will get better vision with your stock lights than these cheap lights. Don't use fog lights during clear weather either.

soo true lol. thats why i kept my sealed halogens. waaay better than cheap HIDs imo

Although I feel the same way, I have opted to keep my mouth shut about specifically mentioning them as forum sponsors and/or relating them to makers of such kits since I don't want to get banned from the site permanently. Since this site is without a doubt purely a business now, I've been awfully careful.

I choose to speak generically about the "HID kits" out there and let people come to their own conclusions about which company to choose.

I did not know any of this. Thanks for all your input and am going to steer clear of cheap HID conversions.

Since I cannot afford/would rather spend money elsewhere a proper HID installation what would you recommend me do to increase my night driving visibility?

A higher amp alternator would help. A series 5 alternator would slightly increase the electrical output and result in a little bit brighter headlights without purchasing anything more than the alternator. An FD alternator is ideal but you'll need a pulley and special bracket to retrofit it onto an FD. Either the s5 or FD alternator requires a simple wiring modification that even someone with little to no electrical experience can undertake in an hour. Look at the FC Archive for a thread on how to do this.

If you do intend to go with the FD alternator, PM Japan2LA with your requirements (single or dual alternator pulley) and he will set you up with everything you need to run it without under or overdrive.

I think I've called them out with regards to providing a housing in their own section/threads... I'm not sure if I've bitched in the moderator's section yet...

Why don't we get sponsored by APC or a similar company that produces god aweful 10 ft tall wings, or something that is at least road legal and safe...
