Lightbulb S4 GXL and S4 TII's UNIVERSAL ?¿?¿

I was wondering, I have an 86' gxl. If I went to (pick and pull) and got some parts from a 87' turbo what all can switch right over to my car? (engine) Is there a point where you take enough of the gxl that you can start using parts from the Turbo model?

Any main swaps that would be better from the Turbo? Better then that of what I have on mine (stock)? I don't know much about rotary, just piston. Is there a site that lists what you can change and to what extent for improved power? I have no idea of what should be at what pressure with a rotary. My dad overhauls P51 Merline engines (piston), were just wondering what could be done to improve hp that you don't see done on pistons.
"two different beastes"

Right now I have about $600 till my next paycheck, anything that I can get for my car to improve hp? I.E. Performance chips/exhaust/gears/intake?

thanks
