S4 cruise control into S5 NA...

Does anyone know if S5's wiring is plug and play with the S4 cruise control (non-vert)?

I know that all N/A actuators are the same (same part number for all years), and from what I've read, a Turbo computer will run both types of actuator, so long as you're using the same Series switch (S4 versus S5)...

And, you can apparently interchange the S4/S5 switches, if you switch some wires up on the switch plug?

But anyway, would an S4 NA system plug and play into an S5 system, if everything but the wiring harness is S4?

I thought that S4 actuators ran a vac line and S5s were all electric.

I believe that as long as you run everything (computer, switch, and maybe actuator) from the same series it will work. That said, the s4 switch doesn't line up right in the gauge cluster.
Also, the s5 actuator does have a vac nipple on it.

Yeah, both actuators use vacuum, but the vacuum is controlled by the computer (duh, otherwise why would they have a computer? It couldn't possibly run on just engine vacuum).

Curious, is it even slightly possible that a Turbo actuator could run an NA? Maybe if you modified the cable a bit?

I might know someone who wants to get rid of his (he's hardcore to say the least)...

it's definetly possible if you have all the components from the same series (i.e. all S4 NA).

you can even mix and match between series but it will require rewiring and maybe a bit of creativity (and looking at circuit diagrams).

as for using the Turbo system it should be possible. as long as the cruise control computer isn't getting a signal specific for Turbo models.

also if you have problems with getting it to work, the cruise control system actually has it's own self-diagnositic function (it's in the FSM). my cruise control stopped working and it told me "wiring harness problem". great!
