S4 bumper cover question

ive been meaning to ask this for a while but have been forgetting. on the s4 bumper there are little plastic squares in three of the corners of the grill opening, why?

thats all, just wondering why they are there.

the 4th opening is for the "cold air intake" (haha) for the battery. I'm guessing having 1 black area and 3 empty corners doesn't look pleasing.

its just part of the design of the bumper, for example, do you have any idea why people put mesh in their aftermarket bumpers?
looks cool right - well thats one reason
the second is ****, plain ****. bugs, stones, mud, birds and **** that'll fly in those holes and bustify yer p/s cooling loop, condensor and rad
its mostly protection but they do it in a way that looks cool

yeah thats what i thought, as with the whole mesh grill thing. how do you clean that stuff? i had some red mesh on my old car and when it was new it was all shiney, but after like a week it was almost black and no matter how had i scrubbed i couldnt get it clean again.
