S4 base model with no Water Thermo Sensor

Hey all,

I've been having a lot of issues with the car dying after accel start up and below 60 start up and recently noticed that I do not have a water thermo sensor, which I think is the cause. I have the wire for it, but the hole where it is meant to go is not tapped. My question is if this is normal ( as far as I know the car is totally stock ). I looked, but couldn't find anything about people just not having them in a stock config. I will put pics below.

The green wire in the pics is what the thermo sensor would plug into.

it's not supposed to be there anyways as it is located on the rear of the Water pump housing in that "unseeable area" where the alternator and pump housing meet up.
That green wire is for an Aux fan..and you do not have one.So that wire being unplugged is normal and not your problem.

I'm not so sure about that.
The thermosensor wire (for the S5, at least) IS G/B, the fan trigger is Y and that does look like the general area for the sensor.
What type of connector terminates that green wire?

The aux fan terminal is a basic spade connector and the thermosensor is more like a fuel injector type housing.
A few minutes with a multimeter should tell you which ECU terminal that green wire is going to.

The ECU needs to know engine temp and as far as I know, all 13B injected engines had a thermosensor.

that is the s4 automatic auxiliary fan connector, not applicable here.

your idle issues are likely just a combination of vacuum leaks and or poor maintenance, as it is with 90%+ of FCs, which is fairly obvious by the fact the TPS adjustment screw cap is still on there after 30 years.

..but then again the thermoneck is a S4 and therefore the engine should be too??
If the engine is an S4 then it would have the 2 wire "fuel injector looking" connector for the water thermosensor..on the back of the pump...(Fairly certain of that.)
IF memory serves me correctly there was a single blade sensor of some sort (there were 2 sensors) on the back of the waterpump on the S5..but Hell,I never got into s5's that much..I think Turbo model?

on the S5 it had a similar 1 pin connector for the fan near the water thermosensor with a black round plug, since the s5 had a plastic thermostat neck, nowhere to put it up there.

same boat, different ocean.
