S13 to FC3S = new toy!
just got it for 1800 bucks an 86 2+2 rx7 NA with a rebuilt atkins motor with minor street port, walbro FP, boost gauge (cause watching vacuum is fun), pyrometer, tokico blues, 130k on chassis and 20 or 30k on the rebuilt motor, forgot which exactly right now, cheap ebay seats (those are gunna go, ASAP) 5 lug swap parts (minus wheels/tires) open diff and two sets of piaa fogs, which i may keep or not, no power steering, some downpipe (but its NA, so i know there is a better term, but thats what he called it) it has working AC, cruise control, sunroof, windows, new clutch and shifter bushings. the guy made some wierd hood scoop that looks crappy but im gunna give it a quick paint of black so it looks less gay.
I'm lookin for t2 seats and I wanna get rid of the back seats and I know people are interested in it.
basically gunna do the 5 lug swap with bigger brakes, R32 GTR wheels with some rubber, 12a tranny (shorter gear ratios) Torson diff, aluminum driveshaft and flywheel
full RB exhaust, remove emissions and an intake
then a nice ECU hack will be in order
after that: save up for going all out on the suspension
and my old ride for the past few years

2 suggestions:
1- Take out the Walbro. There's absolutely no need for it except to cause problems.
2- Lose the back seats. Honestly, unless your girls best-friend is a midget, they're useless.
Other than that, pretty nice looking car. It's the same color as mine so that's always good to see .

back seats already planned on being gone, i honestly think there is less leg room back there than my 240sx, which is.. well
none.

BTW this is a silly question but what octane is best? cheap 87 or premium 93? my 240sx got better milage on 93 definitly but that had pistons and valves and etc, just curious to know which octane is better for rotary.

Walbro's are great pumps, but they pump throw out way more fuel than an N/A needs. Considering not everything with the fuel system works perfectly on a 20 year old car, this can cause it to run rich.
Also, if you can/don't mind rebuilding transmissions, I would go with a TII tranny. But, that's me.

and the system is already partly out and still for sale for the matter.
well its not that I don't mind rebulding a tranny, I'd personally rather not but if I just have to swap a bell housing or a rear tail section, no biggie.
that and getting acsess to a hydraulic press isnt the easiest thing
that scoop thing wasnt my idea, I'd rather not have it there but it is right above the intake filter, which is K&N.

Is your K&N filter blocked off from the rest of your engine bay? If not, have fun with heat soak (although I'm not sure how much the direct air flow to it will help, if air does go in there...).
I believe to use a FB transmission, you just have to swap the bell housing. But, if you don't mind rebuilding tranny's and have the money, it's always nice to have a "new" tranny.

Although a search would of found an answer for him (even though there's mixed opinions), it's still a valid question. I'd say it's a good question in general. Most people associate sports cars with 93 octane.

I know how to use the search button, I am one of the super moderators on 240sxforums.com, but I thought it was relivant to the topic

Ok nuff said, I wasn't harassing you about the post just about the saying your a mechanic and then asking which octane fuel is best. I understand though no biggy I was just sorta floored.

The walbro will be fine. Runnign rich can't hurt anything seriously other than lower mileage and over time possible adding to carbon build up.
The Walbro pumps a lot of fuel and the stock FPR usually sucks and can't maintain X psi. My car ran around 5-10psi over stock because the FPR.
NA's can run the lowest octane and will most likely run better since they were design for lower octane. Do your own testing though. Fill a tank of 87/91/etc and run them dry in similar situations and see which one lasts longer.
TII on the other hand. Boosted usually means the more octane the safer you are.
Honestly a Base model is a big project if you plan on upgrades. It's the lowest one.
a GXL or GTU would be a better stepping stone.
They already have the 5 lugs/brakes and the beefier suspension.
Good luck though. I plan on getting a 95ish 240 for my daily driver
