S-AFC, yes or no?

i'm having a engine rebuilt with a mild streetport for a 88 T2...my question is, do i need an S-AFC? ive searched and there were mixed comments, some have said that 550's in the secondaries will do, some say that you absolutely need a S-AFC.

the car came with a few mods that i'm keeping for now;

HKS F-CON (not sure how old this thing is)
HKS EVC-II (now i know this thing is really old)
Blitz BOV

and i plan to add a catback apex'i system, and a bonez dp/cat, and to port the wastegate.

wil the F-CON be enough to control the fuel? or should i ditch it in favor of a S-AFC? or will 550's do?

the car has 550's in both primary and secondary spots stock, so that's not a problem. The F-CON is a good unit, and replacing it with an s-afc won't do a whole lot for ya. It's really a preference thing. I love my s-afc, but whatever works.
the EVC is a boost controller. Depending on your other mods, it looks like you may actually need some 720cc secondaries and a bigger fuel pump to be on the safe side. porting the wastegate is an excellent idea for the s4 turbos, because it is so small. you will experience boost creep without porting it. When you port it, it's possible to port it BIGGER than the flapper door. this is a good idea because the flapper has the potential to get stuck in the hole. Just make sure the flapper covers 75% of the hole. the 75% rule comes from Corky Bell's turbo book, and is generally accepted to be ok for our cars you may notice a bit of wastegate creep, but nothin too bad.

what are you future plans??

I had a Safc and sold it!

If your going the piggyback route i would look into the greddy emanage! you can control two extra injectors if needed and even upgrade to a S5 AFM. Thats worth the extra $50, but there still not going to be a standalone.

With a full 3" turboback exhaust, no cats and a nice tid mod my car was running .8 bar with boost creap! Porting the WG is to much work for somthing that is going to end up as a paper weight or in the trash can.

The FCON works really well - it will drive the livin' crap out of the stock fuel injectors. It's good for nearly any simple bolt-on you can do to the car. You can't tune it, but sometimes that's a good thing .

Keep the FCON, see how the engine does with it, and if it's not up to snuff try something different.
