I have nothing against FD's, but you sure can't approach them from a cost effective standpoint - it's more like a collector's car.

Rx8 Vs Fc/fd

First of all, what body style do you like more? If you want more comfort and have a newer aged ride and probly be alittle more reliable, go for the rx8. If you want to look even better get an FD for about the same price with low milage, be faster and look better than the rx8 and the fc. If you want flat out all performance and dont mind having an older car go for fc. Its all realy up to you. If you want reliable and new aged car RX8. If you want to go faster RX7. It realy just depends on what body style you like. If your more into 6speeds rx8, for the rx7 ofcourse the 5speed...I realy dont know im just talking =/

Me either

Although I may be the only person in the entire world that thinks a nice FC looks better than an FD, I would SO rock an FD.

I agree i like the look of a done up t2 over a done up fd anyday. But honestly an rx8 is always going to be better than an fc in the real world just becuase its newer, the only mint fc's you see now days is ones from first to second owners who keep them garaged. Even then they wont handle as good due to the suspension sagging over time and then you have your grounds corroding and leaky primary injector's
But i have heard of rx8's flooding alot too and i have heard of hard starts and weak trannies so whats new anyway. And they still burn about the same oil.

And the rx8 wouldnt be the first new car i buy ,look at some of the other more disiarable/reliable choices like the MazdaSpeed 3!

That's along the lines of what I was thinking - I'm trying to restore mine to basically like new - there's almost nothing original on the car right now. I only wish I could afford to go out and the whole frame restored (because cars naturally distort over time). But not everyone who buys an FC for $1500 will go out and spend $5-6k more to make it run and handle like new again, like I have. :P

I honestly really don't like the look of the FD and like the FE's appearance better- but the FC is by far my favorite style-wise.

Sweet! I never dreamed that I wasn't all alone. The FD looks damn nice, but the FC is just so svelte, such a timeless design. Well, once you get rid of the 2 inch thick black trim, the 14" wheels, and the blue/maroon **** interior.

I'd take a mint T2 over a "good condition" FD anyday of the week.

Just watch a best motoring video with an Rx8 and you'll understand. I have tons of them. look up Rotary Rocket, Rotary Reborn, just to name a few. Those two have the Rx8 in it and they push it like crazy. I trust the words of Orido, Wakisaka, and Tsuchiya more than the forum folk. sorry to hate on you all but it's true.

I've gotta agree too. The FC is just so raked...with the steeply swept windshield and so forth...its sweet. However, all it takes is a body kit to ruin it...because 80% of the body kits I have seen ruin the lines and make the car fugly.

If I had the cash to purchase, insure, and maintain an FD I would already have one. Im of the opinion that the FD is the sexiest car made in the last 30 yrs. Period. I just dont have the money to keep up with it. I really, really wish I did. Its either monthly paymetns, or own the car outright. I cant afford a loan for an FD and maintenance.

I could never see myself owning one, how could I wear a helmet when I go to autocross? I fit much better in the FC, I never notice my head touching the headliner and I am pretty sure I could wear a helmet in there. (I'm 5'10").

Not a performance thing but a random sidenote I felt like adding.
The seat height is adjustable on the FE. The one you were in, must have had the seat way up high, because the FE has almost 2 inchs more headroom than a FC with the seat bottom all the way down.

I am 6'2" and I can sit in any position in the FE without even being close to the ceiling, well alone touching it (as I have in every FC I have owned).

Well I keep saying that the FE is what the FD should have been... but lets face it in everything but styling the FE was a absolute failure.

The FE is finally a replacement for the FC.
