RX7 production numbers

I'm trying to find information about production numbers for 2gens sold in the USA. The only thing I can find is the one broken down by year. I want to see one that is broken down by year but also broken down by color and model. I've seen one for the 3gens but no luck for the 2gens.

The only thing I have is 1500 10th Anniversaries and something about 100 GTU in 1991

Did you even read the thread or even the link that you posted? I don't care about options.

I want to know how many Red T2's where made in 88 or how many Black GXL's where made in 91'. Just an example.

Good luck finding those numbers... I don't think there's any specific color-code production number tracking. Might be something only mazda knows. But, if you find it... PLEASE post it.

Don't think you will get color stats for 2nd gen's from Mazda, not sure where those 3rd gen color stats came from.

I called Mazda a few years back and they did give me the total and convertible production numbers but could not give turbo stats.

They also would not give it to me in writing, would have been nice to have it on Mazda letter head, this is what they gave me over the phone:

year verts sales % verts
1986 0 56,243 0%
1987 0 38,345 0%
1988* 7,002 27,814 25%
1989 4,032 16,249 25%
1990 3,535 9,743 36%
1991 3,151 6,986 45%
totals 17,720 155,380 11%

1983: 52,514

1985: 53,810
1986: 56,243

Why is that so surprising? I don't get it. The other list didn't include first gens or 3rd gens and this list stops at 93. So we're missing possible numbers for 94 and 95 not too mention what was sold in Japan after 95. The list I posted above is 500,000+.

you need to read the faq section.
there were no gxl's made in 91'
nor was there a gtu in 91
just vert, base coupe, and tII

You're missing the point of his question. If you want to be picky... use vert, coupe, and TII instead of GXL.

In other words...

how many red verts in 91? how many blue verts? red coupes? bright metallic fuscia?

LoL..My5ABaby is right, I don't care if there was any GTU or GXL's in 91. I was just using it as a quick example. Can you tell me how many TII's where made in 91?

Actually, if you REALLY want to get specific.... there was no TII in 1991. It was called the "Turbo Coupe" that year.
