RX7 Flooding???
I am new to the RX7 family. I noticed that my 86 has a fuel pump problem or electrics problem that allows the injectors to release fuel into the motor. I have talked to several people, one shop, and done some on line reading. What are they talking about, and what can I do about it. If I drive the car to the store, shut it off, it will not start again. What gives??? Can anyone please explain a fix. The local mechanic that is the RX7 guru says that for 50.00 he will put in a kill switch to shut the pump off? There should be a better way. Can someone please help me with some info.
Thanks in advance.

My car doesn't start
Remember when starting a fuel injected car you should never pump or press the accellerator pedal, but if it won't start it is probably flooded, Hold the accelerator pedal all the way down while cranking, do not pump the pedal. If it still doesn't start after a few tries, Then remove the EGI fuse and crank a couple more times, then re-install the fuse and try starting again. If then the car still fails to start it then you need to remove and clean the spark plugs, put in a teaspoon of ATF into the lower sparkplug holes, re-install the spark plugs and try again. Make sure you change your oil after you have started and run the car ASAP

i have this problem too and holding the pedal to the floor works good but my buddy told me to disconnect a ground wire from the starter (the one that tells the fuel pump when to kick on) and then you shouldnt have the problem anymore and he said it only works on the s4's. -mike

Number one- Never shut the car off until it's fully up to temp. If the engine is old, low compression will also cause this problem.
