had my car broken into and door locks trashed, I have fitted a new lock in the passenger side door, but how do you get at the drivers side to remove the door handle and lock

 

Same way as the drivers side! You have to lower the window to the maintenance postition to remove the screws holding it, then you slide the window out. After that you can reach the two bolts holding the lock in place. Obviously you need to remove the interior door panel first

 

Actually, one nut is accessible with the window up and the other with the window down (and the plastic plug removed).

 

i'm about to work on this later this week... man those door panels are annoying to deal w/ i think i broke and/or lost half the clips

 

Remove the door handle and the door panel.

Like the man said above, one nut can be removed with the window down and the other with the window full up. Been there, done that tooooo many times. Junk handle in myhumble opinion. Don't wanna hear the bs about it being a fifteen year old car.

 

how the *** do u get the stupid thing out of the door!@? its too big for the hole

 

get what out?
just take off the door panel, and access the handle from the inside. you have to play with the window to get both nuts off, just be patient.
