I've been looking for a 1g or 2g rx 7 for literally years, and I stumbled across a sweet deal on Ebay in my town. I ended up getting an 86 and an 87 for $1050.
The 87 is really nice, with an almost new engine and tranny, and new fuel pump, struts, shocks, brakes, etc. Body is perfect minus one fender dent, paint is okay, but not great. Interior is pretty complete and clean. Runs beautifully! I believe it's a GXL, cause that is the only n/a that came with a cruise control option that year(correct me if I'm wrong).
The 86 is just a pretty tore up parts car. The body isn't great, paint is horrible, interior is pretty hashed, needs a tranny, keys, brakes, and some random interior pieces.

Overall I think I got a good deal, both are 5 speeds. Kind of had a weird question tho, they put indiglo lights on the poor thing, and after I drove it home, I shut the car off and the indiglos stayed on...I couldn't get them to turn off, so maybe there is a hidden button or dimmer switch I don't know about?

 

The switch should be somewhere near the steering wheel.
