RX-7 "birthmonths", what is yours?

My cars original manufacturing date as it says on the sticker is 01/91, so my car turns 20 this month!
Don't know how I'll celebrate this whole month haha but I'll figure something out maybe
What are your manufacturing dates?

October 1985

I had the dealer look up the exact production date down to the day... I have it written in the back page of my owner's manual.

My '88 GTU was "born" in August of 1988. My old '90 GTU was built in November of 1989.

Which brings me back to an interesting question that has always puzzled me a little. According to the Second Gen FAQ, Mazda continued building model year 1988 FCs into December of 1988. I've always wondered why. Were they having problems getting the bugs out of some of the changes planned for the S5 revision (like the motorized belts, perhaps)? Was there some legal or regulatory holdup? If you walked into a Mazda dealership in January of 1989, were they really still trying to sell "new" 1988s? Today, it's not as odd to have delayed model year launches as it was back then.

If anybody has any insight on this, I'd love to hear it.

Just looked at the page in my manual...

18th October 1985
JM1FC3318G0111011

One of the very first FCs imported to the United States.

Has the coolant overflow over by the leading ignition coil rather than in front of the radiator.

Anyone got an earlier one?

Ah, very lucky man!
Did you just call mazda and ask what the original production date was? I assume you just give them the vin number and they look it up

Well, it helps that my local Mazda dealership is Malloy, and that I talk to Ray Crowe personally from time to time, as well as have and have had a couple friends work there.

Sweet deal! I actually just called mazda and asked about mine, she was assembled january 30th 1991 and purchased in february of 1992. And in terms of ownership has never left long island which is where I live haha. So just like me, she's a 19 year old long island native!
