I used to have an 86 RX7 about 5 years ago. I noticed the engine performance started going down, and it started blowing a little smoke here and there. I also noticed the oil filler tube started getting gunk on the inside walls, and eventually started rusting from the inside out. This seemed odd, since there shouldn't be that kind of moisture in the engine.

My question is whether or not this kind of corrosion tends to preclude engine failure? I am looking to buy another RX7 this week, but the one I am looking at has the same oil tube issue, and the last thing I want is for the engine to blow on me again.

Please respond asap - I need to make this deal soon.
