Running a turbo with out down pipe?

Ok, quick question. Is it possible / Safe to run a turbo II with no exhaust hooked up? Not nothing at all. Turbo wide open?

I am asking this just for testing only not to be driven down the street. I would assume that the turbo being wide open could cause alot of excessive heat right on the fire wall and possible catch fire.

I am in the process of installing a Turbo motor into my fc and untill I get a full exahust I am not sure if I should let it run at all.
Please let me know what you think.

I would think that would be like having an 1800 degree flame thrower inside the engine, I think at best case you would instantly fry anything plastic or rubber.

Well I guess we will have to wait to get the exhaust on the car. He is a bit tapped out buying the motor and all but guess he has to wait.
Thanks

Yea if he ran it for more than like 15 seconds or so, everything in close proximity under the hood would probably be instant.
