Running rich, VERY Rich!

My cars running rich I can smell it bad in the exhaust and I'm only doing 8 mpg I've tryed fuel system cleaner and all the fuel lines are fine (yes I checked) and it doesnt seem to be a problem with my MAF (I just cleaned it) I'm thinking O2 senor but any other thoughts?

look at your pulsation damper, i had the same problem; low mileage, smell of gas everywhere, everything LOOKS ok..

but then again... do you have some sort of fuel management?
what are your mods?

O2 sensor won't cause 8mpg. Have you tried doing a tune-up?

pulsation damper? I've never actually heard of that (sorry a bit new to rotary engines) but no mods as of yet, unless you consider my mufflers being rotted out a mod...

but thanks I'll give the pulsation damper a try

yea but it could cause the richness, I did a small tune up, oil, plugs, wires, coolant flush.

How did you clean your AFM?

If there are a lot of miles on the car, have your injectors professionally cleaned. They could be sticking/dripping.

o2 sensor only reduces MPGs by like 2-4. check your timing, make sure your exhaust isnt clogged up, get a new air filter. get the fuel injectors proffessionally cleaned or just replace them with new ones. does the car bog down at low RPMS or while going up hill? you may want to check out the aux. ports. could a bad air pump or exhaust leak cause low MPGs and rich condition?

hmm did you check fuel pressure. you can tell alot from this. operating pressure should be about 25 thats with just the engine running also regulated pressure should be about 30 thats when you remove the vacuum hose from the regulater. if you are afraid of a leak easy just keep the pressure tester hooked up and isolate where you thin the leak may be like clamp the return and feed line to see if the dampener is leakng or the injectors. def at least check for operating pressure.

Check your pulsation dampener. Mine looked fine, but then I saw a small leak. It was leaking fuel onto my exhaust manifold. Which could have been bad because I have an exhaust leak on the exhaust manifold... and sometimes I get afterfire (?). I think that is what it is called.... anywho.

It is located sort of behind the alternator. Underneath the intake manifold. Put your finger on it and see if you can feel it pulsing while the car is running. If not, consider getting it taken off and looked at.

It is very very hard to see the leaking fuel. But I was getting about 5 MPG with mine all jacked.

Good luck! If it is the PD, don't drive your car anymore! I had to start taking the bus.... ghetto...
