Running lights only when headlights are on? why
Running lights only when headlights are on? why
OK so I need some help here. I looked and searched and really could not find anything to help me.
When I turn my running lights on from in the car (1 click or turn of the ****), nothing just a few lights in the car light up. Not even the dash lights up, just like the lights outside the dash like the symbol for the lights, hazards, wipers, etc. The dash does not light up and neither do the outside running lights. but when I go two clicks to turn headlights on my running lights come on and my dash and all lights that are supposed to come on.
They also come on when I flip the headlamps up, even when they're not on. So my running lights come one only when my headlamps are up or my headlights are on.
Why is this? What can I do to fix this? I have no idea what the last owner did to it. It came with these lights though
Also on a side note the little bulbs within this headlight I guess are called city lights ( I don't really know). Mine has these, they are separate from the h4 bulbs though. They sit below the main h4's and you can see the two wires coming out from them in the picture, yea what are these lights? How do you hook them up? Mine has these but there is just two loose wires.
Thank you, if you need more info or anything let me know please. I am not good at wiring to much but I have wired in speakers, amps, subs, and head-units though.

The previous owner has screwed up the wiring, probably AT the headlight switch.
The power on a normal car is seperate for the headlight and the sidelights.
Turn the **** to full up and you put a GROUND on a wire at the headlight switch which in turn puts a gnd on the HEADLIGHT RELAy up in front of the radiator and that relay now pulls in and feeds power from the HEADLIGHT FUSE in the engine bay to the headllights themselves. Nothing at all to do with side lights and combination meter lights.
Side lights and combination meter lights work as follows. Turn the **** up a notch and you make a circuit b/t the white/green wire in the switches plug and the RED/BLACK wire in the plug. Then the side and tail lights come on.
So pull the plug off the headlight switch. I bet you find some unauthoized rework on that plugs wiring. If not, then jumper the W/G to the R/B and the side/tail lights should come on. If they do, that's good. Means the switch is kaput and been fooled with most likely. What is happening to you can only happen if someone fooled with the original wiring in/at the switch.

Thanks, Yea I had a hunch something was messed up just didn't know where. Ill look at the switch and check it out, hopefully its something that can be fixed easily and not to time consuming. I have a lot more to fix on the car. Sunroof still off track, no radio, no center console bezel ( why are they so expensive? ). Thanks again though.
