it sounds like for an n/a application the RTEK isn't worth it (unless it's really cheap I guess), unless it does indeed allow you to remove the AFM.

it could remove the rev limiter, and give ported people a way to tune for fuel.

people underestimate n/a's needs just because theyre slower

you can gain gobs of horsepower through a real tunable system, not just a s-afc on stock ecu. rtek gives lots of freedom that piggybacks havent had, like timing. and that sorta fuel mapping. s-afc is close, but not the right way to do it.

Question: (sorry if it's dumb) does the RTek have, by chance, a built-in FCD?

If it doesn't and I've just violated unwritten stupidity codes, I apologize, and you may smite me.

---EDIT---

I dunno exactly what revision it is. The guy I bought this TII from simply told me it has an RTek chip... and he was, supposedly, running at 10 PSI (could have been a faulty boost guage, who knows?) without an FCD. So I came to the conclusion that the RTek might have one built in.

RTEK 1.5 and 1.7 has FCD. I'm sure 2.0 has it too, but don't quote me

It's not a FCD. It's a removal of the signal which starts the Fuel cut situation.

Which means that you are not altering the pressure reference to decieve the ECU which pretty much every FCD does.

It's much better than a FCD like HKS/RB

I got to make a decision soon. Rtek 2.0 or emanage.
I'm leaning towards the emanage because it will work on a laptop and I'll be able to remove the AFM.
If Rtek will have the same capabilities with future upgrades then I'm prone to the Arizona guys.
Is the AFM removal for Rtek real? I'm with SwiftTone, can you run it on a laptop? The palm pilot is extra cost to me.

you guys should just email them with your questions. when i was finding out specifics about getting mine chipped they answered my emails pretty fast ...

i have the 1.7 and i love it ...
after i took care of my flooding issue the car really became my baby again ... the rtek chip is a GREAT upgrade for someone with similar mods as me, who arent trying to get crazy power
im pretty much done with power upgrades .... im going for cosmetics now...

im also curious about when/if the s5's get any love .. they would see a pretty big increase in orders obviously

Palm models and Hotsync cables are listed on their site.

The instruction manuals for all the models is downloadable from their site.

The have other useful products, like teaming up with Zeitronix (sp?* and giving you the ability to use the Zeitronix wideband with a Palm. The palm being used as the display for the wideband and being able to download the wideband using the Palm i.e. LOG

And they have a product that you can download/read OBDII data from selected Jap cars using a Palm I think.
