Exclamation RSR or Tanabe springs?

I want linear springs no if's and's or but's. I want my rex to basically handle like it's on rails. I currently have Tokico blues for shocks. I can put up with a stiff ride, but don't want to blow out the brand new shocks if the spring is way too stiff. Can anyone give me the pro's and con's for these 3? RSR race, RSR down, and Tanabe gf210. And yes, I am aware of the camber changes, etc.
Opinions please.

BTW, I've been searching for the last 4 hours on this and I still can't decide, so someone please help me out.

Brian

By the way, I have a 91 FC with 225/50-15's all around. I will not be tracking the car (yet), but I want the car to have a very stiff ride. I can't stand the body roll. I can deal with bumps with stiff suspension, and I'm tired of the rear end squatting under acceleration.

The biggest thing I'm concerned about is blowing out my brand new Tokico Blues if the springs are too stiff. Would I have to worry about this with the RSR race springs?? Or should I check into one of the other 2 I mentioned?

Dont really know how to answer your question, but im running tanabe gf's on tokico illumnias and they are pretty stiff. it handles very well. I have no exp with RSR race springs. (although coincidentatlly i was also debating between the RSR race springs and Tanabe GF's when i was looking for springs) =P

Having stiff springs shouldnt blow your shocks. It should save them if anything. Less motions, less friction, less heat, less compression, less rebound.

Black91n/a posted this in this same thread that I have in the suspension section which makes me wonder.........
"There was a thread a while back where someone had RSR race springs with new blues and he said the ride was bouncy, so they're too stiff for the blues. Try the other two maybe, or there's racing beat and suspension techniques."

I'm running Tanabe GF's springs with KYB AGX shocks and loving it. Lowered the car one inch all the way around and handles like a dream. Still haven't had a chance to play with all the settings on the shocks, running 2 in front and 4 in rear, but I can tell the shocks and springs made a huge difference in how the car feels. I changed all the bushings at the same time also and did the rear camber adjuster also. On some highways the car feels every little bump in the road, on a smooth one running 125 you're glued to the road. On backroad driving the difference is amazing from what the stock set-up was. It can or could be a little stiff or bouncy/twitchy I guess depending on how bad the road sucks but it's nothing I would complain about. I'd rather have that than a loose car. All in all I'm very pleased with the springs.

that is false. the shocks damp the spring oscillations. with higher spring rates, you need higher damping rates if you want to maintain decent control over them.

have you tried finding the spring rates of each? i vaguely remember the rsr race is something like 350/250 lbs/inch. you can also maybe try calling tokico to see what is the max rate the shocks can take. just a suggestion, good luck.

Well, from what I was told in my thread in the suspension section, the RSR race springs are too bouncy for the struts I've got. So now I have it narrowed down to either the RSR down springs or the Tanabe gf210's. Which do you guys think is better to go with??

Should I go with spring rates that are closer to each other like the Tanabe's, or farther apart like the RSR down's? I also noticed that the RSR down's have a lower rear spring rate, and I'm trying to keep the rear from squatting. What do you guys think??

Make Model Spring Rates F/R Lowering F/R
Tanabe GF210 168/140 1.5/1.5
RS-R Down 201/123 1.4/0.8

I am running RS*R Race springs with Tokico Blues. The ride is stiff, but it is great. Watch out for train tracks and pot holes and your fine.

RSR's Race are progressive and have spring rates similar to coilovers.

drop:
F: 1.2"
R: 2.0"

F: 335 lb/in
R: 224 lb/in

I don't think RS*R springs are progressive. They sure don't look like it.

Whatever the case, this is a pretty cool site I stumbled upon.

Hmm, I am not sure what is in my car (looks stock) but the ride is stiff as hell, bone shattering if i hit pot holes... maybe my struts are blown beyond recgonition (sp) Took a exit ramp on the bqe to prospect pkway (live in bklyn) not sure how fast i was going but MAN did the friggen car rail that turn... my ex-240sx didnt rail turns like that... i was quite suprised......

I heard nothing but good things about tanabe stuff...
I seen good things about rs*r....

I think im going with racingbeat and agx (affordable to counter the rb springs...)
