Question Rough idle durring a cold start normal?

i've noticed that every moring when I first start my car (87 N/A, 94k on motor) it seems to misfire and idle very rough for about the first 30sec-1min or so. This is my first rotary so I'm really not sure if it's normal or not. Could it be a fouled plug? It runs great after it's warmed up, it just does this when it's cold... and by cold i mean 0-10 degrees F outside. Any input on this would be great BTW i love this website, i've learned alot by browsing these forums

Nope, not normal.

When you start the car, it should shoot immediately to 3K RPM for about 15 seconds, then down to around 1500 RPM, and then should slowly drop to 750 RPM as it warms up. All of which should be smooth.

If you have a rough idle, you need to start with a full 60K tuneup. Especially adjusting the TPS. Then check for any vacuum leaks.

Mine sounds like its running rough too, for the first minute or so when it is cold (~20-40 F). After that is runs smooth, especially when outside temps are normal, like >50 F. I always thought it was normal. It will do the rev to 3k thing only when outside temps are >50 F.

i does rev to 3k when i start it, and then it drops down but it's just rough. I know this thing needs some mantanice work, i just changed the tranny fluid and diff fluid and the thing shifts awsome and my rear end dosent make any noise now. next up um gonna do spark plugs, wires, and i'll probally look for leaks when i do teh TB mod
