Unhappy Rotor Oil Seals

Is it hard to repair or replace ROTOR OIL SEALS?
How much will I spend?

Why do you suspect that your oil seals are gone?

cuz, the car is consuming 1 quart of oil every 100 miles, and there are NO oil leaks, and yesterday I was told that the car was smoking....plus the cars performance has changed...I had a hard time getting up to a 100

Well, your looking at tearing down your engine, or just outright buying a rebuilt. Would you be doing the work yourself?

Unhappy

To be honest...I'm currently weighing my options...I got a price for a rebuilt engine...$1200, plus I'll need someone to put it in, or I'll need to learn how to do it....I don't know what to do yet...the car is sharp..."black convertible"

If you rent an engine lift, and have a good amount of tools, you should be able to do it in a weekend provided you have everything you need (gaskets and whatnots). Don't forget to flush out your rad and oil cooler while the engine is out. Have the injectors cleaned while the motor is out too. Have some friends around? Pay em with beer and hamburgers. Just make sure you cut em off so they're not plastered while working on your car (drunk people break things...)

Thanks Josepi,
I'm seriously considering it, although I've never done anything like this in the past, but I'm willing to try.. if it's just a matter of reconnection all the parts from the old engine.

yes, possibly longer, because you, the first owner of it will (learn) how to take care of it from the start.

I've used Chevron Techron, one bottle at every oil change for the last two years. I don't notice any degrading effects, and the car runs and pulls fine. I'd recommend it.

the person that told you inmjector cleaner would damage your engine.

and it will run, its just gonna eat oil like a feind.

And it will foul plugs and gum up the engine.
Eventually it will roll an apex seal, this will destroy a rotor housing and rotor, but this is what happened to evey engine that rolls a seal.

you could rebuild BEFORE the apex seal blows, and save yourself some $.

yes, if you want to fix them.

and you should want to.

If you rebuild before blowing an apex seal thats better, be prepared to spend about $500 on seals and parts.

Please completely research how this is done and read the FSM on the subject.
also order the atkins rebuild video.
