Rotor housing question

I was wondering if the front and rear rotor housings are interchangable?

the reason I ask is cause my engine I had had a gouge in the front rotor housing so I bought another used engine that was suposidly a running ,but when I pulled the engine apart the front rotor housing also had a gouge.

They are swappable/interchangable.
