Rotary Aviation

well,
christmas came and went really fast and i finally have enough dough to do a basic engine overhaul kit for my 1991 fc3s. well, rotary aviation has the cheapest one ive seen yet and was wondering if anyone has dealt with them at all. i am interested in purchasing their kit. are they reliable? if you have any info id like to know what you have to say. thanks for your time.

you dont need a full kit, some wasted money there. check the archives for the rebuild parts list, some nice info and replies.

Just an FYI I used the Atkins seals, and have had good luck with them.

i also use atkins but they cost about twice as much, have only seen a few people complain about the RA seals.

the general opionion seems to be there is a trade off between seal durability/strength vs. longivity of housings.

RA seals have been know to be tougher seals, but wear the housings faster as the trade off to that....

i plan to use RA seals in my turbo rebuild in the upcoming few months

they are fine for stock n/a applications if you plan on doing no crazy upgrades on them because they have been known to flatten out. Most people just ditch the seal springs and go with the mazda ones.

I just rebuilt using the RA kit.
I liked that they included the sealants.
The few parts I didn't use this time, I will use next time.

I have a 87TII and I purchased the basic kit and the gasket kit from Laura at Rotary Aviation, my car has almost 3k miles since I rebuilt the engine and no problems at all so far, actually Rotary Aviation customer service is great and the kit comes with almost everything you need for the overhaulling.
I hope this help
Carl
