Rookie Wiring Questions (Defi Racer Gauge)

Hi everyone,

My apologies in advance if these are rookie questions. I just purchased some Defi Racer gauges and I'm trying to wire up my gauges to the correct power sources. Can someone confirm the following information for me.

Orange Wire - Ignition : I assume I can tap into a wire near the stereo. Can someone confirm the color wire? And am I able to use a 3 to 1 wire splice and only use 1 fuse? which size fuse? 30A?

Red Wire - Constant: Should I run a wire directly from the battery into a distribution block? If so would each red wire coming from each gauge require a fuse? If so which size fuse? 30A?
Distribution box options Distribution box options

White Wire - Illumination - Can I tape into the glove box light using a 3 to 1 wire splice?

Ground - Self explanatory

30A fuses are massive overkill and right there on your diagram it specifies .3A fuses.

See how it says "12 volt when ignition ON"? Use your meter to find a wire that is on with IGN ON and OFF with IGN OFF. You'll find that you have a few wires to choose from. I can't remember that colour I used but don't worry about colour. You'll find something that works.

Congrats on the Defi gauge.

Thanks for the clarification. The gauges get delivered today so I wasn't sure if they come with a fuse already.

Since your new to wiring I have some advice. Never cut any wires. Things turn into spaghetti real fast and chasing electrical gremlins is a thankless task. There is always a better solution. In your case, since the devices require very small current, you can probably piggy back on an existing fuse in the fusebox using one of these devices. It's quickly reversible if you decide to go another route.

You'll need two, one for constant +12v and one for switched +12v. I'm not familiar enough with the FC to suggest which fuses in the box you can pull to install these, but it's easy enough to check with a multi-meter.

As far as grounding goes, you can check the shop manual to find where other accessories ground or you can pick your own spot. Clean off any paint and use a tooth lock washer that will bite into the metal. You want a good ground if you want accurate readings from the gauges.

From some research it appears that the gauges come with the .3 fuses. With the piggy back set up you suggested am I able to splice 3 wires to this set up for both the 12v ignition and 12v constant? What size fuse would then be used on this piggy back set up?
