Rollbar question

I'm putting in a rollbar, bucket seats, and harnesses in the project car, problem is, I can't find any rollbars that have mounting locations for a passenger side harness? I'm looking for something simple, like the Autopower rollbar that's popular. Any suggestions on what I might do?

Did you look into the companies the Dave Gibson used on his coupe and vert? I believe you could mount the shoulder portions to a straight bar that runs across between B? pillars. The same bar the drivers side would loop too.

Heres the pic.

My advice would be to email Dave and ask him about the bar.

PS Heres the site where he got his bar from. www.ioportracing.com You might want to email them also.

Lol, yup, that's the Autopower. Can I hook up the harnesses(harni?) to those positions. I was unsure, if so, I'll probably go with the autopower. What's the smaller, thinner bar at the top for then?

Yup, I have that one too, and also got it from i/o port. Nice guys there. The design has changed a little. See how the harness bar goes back away from the plane of the bar on the driver side in that pic, but it flat on the passenger side? The one I got goes back away from the plane of the bar the whole way across and doesn't attach to the diagonal brace.

That particular bar is called the "race roll bar with harness bar" and is SCCA legal. (what scca events require it, I don't know. maybe solo 1?)

It wasn't hard to install, once i figured out that the fairings that hide the mouse belt motors have to be removed to slip the feet back towards the wheel well area. You can get the covers back in by shoving the bar side to side before you bolt it in.

Also of note. RCI makes a harness snap-in kit with eye bolts. The thread on the eyebolts is the same as the seatbelt mechanism mounting bolts, so you can pop them out and put the eyebolts in, and have harnesses AND normal belts without drilling any holes. Also, don't drill the hole for your sub-belt in the center, because the hole comes out the bottom inside the chassis rail. You have to offset it a bit.

Also, you can't open your bins more than 4 inches or so with the bar. If you are like me and have removed all the screws from the bins, you can slip the whole bin out into the trunk area if it isn't too full. (since the bottom is flexible)

Gene,
Thanks a bunch! Very useful information! I didn't realize they changed the design, but the new one sounds good. Thanks to Scott and Tony too! I'll probably end up with this one.
