RHD swap... Complete

Took it on a drive today, and drove beautiful. so i'll post this up now...

This car started out as my Renesis project. But building and designing everything for the Renesis swap is taking me a while. Im undecided on a lot of things for that motor and was tired of it just sitting there. so i started this in the mean time...

Got it a stock 1990 GTU (LHD) with "OK" interior and no motor or tranny. Missing most of the wiring and things like that... wouldnt be needing that stuff anyways.

After i decided to put the Reni swap on hold, I ordered a front clip and swapped everything over... only a few minor touches left, pretty much all dealing with the body and interior. all work done by me and only me...

this is kind of how i recieved it. i did a little clean up and removed some things already, but you get the idea...

Now on to the fun stuff...

1st order of business what to cut a section of the firewall. wich is only one way to do it. you can just drill holes to mount everything. or swap the entire firewall. this was myc hoice...

RHD steering column mount tacked in. you have to have this align with the fire wall holes or NOTHING will ever fit. I just eyeballed both and got lucky

filling in old holes...

alignment check, seriously hard to make sure you cut and weld two firewalls exactly the same. and drill out and weld in the steering coulmn mount exactly perfect. i got lucky!

there was a small oil leak coming from where the oil cooler lines bolt onto the front cover. so to fix it i had to remove both oil lines. so i decided i wasnt goin through all that trouble for nothing.

i had this oil cooler kit i had made custom for a drag car i was working on. that car is gone. but i kept this...

When i removed the lower manifold, I also removed the turbo and ported the wastegate. I plan on running this car at 12psi. So, since im using the stock Intercooler, I decided i needed some cooling and detonation prevention...

So i installed an AI injection kit. (water/methenol)...

heres some pics of how i installed the pump, reservoir, and wiring stuff...

I made a little mount out of aluminum and bolted it directly to the floor. mounted the boost switch and reservoir to the speaker tower. The reservoir is the stock rear wiper fluid tank. It sat lower than the pump and i didnt like that. so i mounted it above for gravity to feed water to the pump. All the lines were run up through the center of the car under the rug.

and heres the Fuel cell installed also...

And heres where i mounted my Nozzle (injector). The stock top mount intercooler is just thick enough to tap. Just barely though. I thought that would be a problem, but luckily enough. it worked out just fine.

I used a hard line for the boost switch (like a relay that activates the pump to turn on to my set boost level) that i got from Home Depot. its similar to the hard line that came with the kit from cooling mist. but i got a huge roll for two dollars! I like this set-up cause its pretty much hidden. After i either find a stock cargo cover to hide the fuel cell and pump, or make one myself. this will be barely noticable...

I did a lot of searching and found NOTHING on injecting with the stock TII set-up. So i kinda just gave it some thought and figured it out. The only thing i might change is the reservoir, It's kinda small.

I'm going to set the AI to inject at 6psi, wich is the stock boost level. and im going to turn up the boost to 12psi. with the added water/meth mix, it should run real good, safe, and strong at 12psi. Plus, the ECU came pre-tuned from Pan-Speed in Japan. I wonder what adjustmens have already been made??? Im going to check everything with a wide band to be safe. I might need to step it down to a M5 nozzle and do some minor tuning with a SAFCII... just not sure yet. we'll see...

and heres some numbers for people who want to run 50/50 without tuning. every car is different. But this is how i figured it. Im no genius nor am i super experienced with AI. But this was some logical thinking on my part. Same basic principle applies to every car with different numbers...

stock TII Rx7 has 4x550cc. (2 primary / 2 secondary-comes on at 3800rpm)
M8 = 500cc injector
50/50 means 250cc water and 250cc meth with an M8 injector

so if you split that in terms of injectors. thats 125cc per secondary injector. or 75cc per injector. but you have to minus 30%, since you need more meth, just like ethenol e85. (30% isnt exact, im just using that number cause thats what e85 is. its actually a higher number but im not sure what it is)

125cc - 30% = 88cc (in terms of secondarys only)

or

75cc - 30% = 53cc (all four injectors)

so in thinking about adding the added fuel to just the primarys. its like tunning primary 550's and 763cc secondarys.

or

running 603cc injectors all around.

so, the way i see it. you can safely run 50/50 mix with an M8 (500cc) injector on a stock motor and be just fine without tuning.

but stock i mean; intake, exhaust, and boost raised slightly. wich most people do without any tuning anyways. the 250cc of water, and 250cc of meth, just make it run safer and better. no worry about detonation or going lean...

I will be running at around 12psi. stock boost is 6psi.

Im going to use "boost Juice" from snowperformance. Its thier blend of 51% water and 49% Methenol. Its already premixed and is a proven blend.

I'll now be starting on the paint and body work. plus maybe putting some nice RE mirrors and a lip. PLus doing som interior clean up. Maybe some Enfini seats...

I'll update when i do some more stuff...

after everything, INCLUDING the cost of the CAR, it came to around 5500... wich isnt bad when you look at my wheels and tires costing around 1200. plus theres a lot of things upgraded that i didnt post. like light weight flywheel, heavy duty clutch, full 3 inch exhaust, Walbro 255 inline, -6 hard fuel line, and stainless braided line all with AN fittings, ect...

So if you been wanting to do this and dont have much money. its plenty possible to turn your TII rolling chassis into a RHD car for under 3k... Just takes a A LOT OF WORK!!!

well, i got it Tiger-Japanese. wich has a VERY VERY bad reputation! I just got lucky. When i bought it, i didnt hear about all the broken motors and bad clips that come from them. Like i said. I got lucky...

and i paid $2254.00 shipped to my door. good price, but rolling the dice on quality...

and my clip came with free goodies like the Cusco coilovers, Pan-Speed tuned ECU, strut bar, lower brace bar, intake, and more... wich was pretty cool.
