Question rhd j-spec '89 rx-7 turbo

Hi, I'm new here, from Vancouver Island, B.C., and have to admit I don't know much about the rotaries... I'm looking at buying a JDM 1989 rx-7 turbo from one of the import dealers on the island here, and I was just wondering how many (if any) of the mechanical parts are exchangeable with the North American models?

One other thing, is this a good price or not: 1989 Rx-7 Turbo, under 100,000km, after-market rims, cai, turbo timer, strut bar, adjustable suspension, cd player, headlight kit (no pop-ups ) 3 inch exhaust.... $5,000... the big benefit is that it just underwent a government safety inspection in order to be registered here in B.C.... so does that sound all right, or is it too much dough? just asking cause i know nothing about them.

thnx alot

the main consideration for the price is how well it runs and what condition the body is in. and is the 5k in american or canadian? either way, if it runs well and is in nice condition with little to no rust along with the rhd aspect of it, its worth the price in my opinion.

5k in canadian $$$... my biggest question is about parts availability, whether or not the north american models use the same mechanicals as the jdm...

The price is right IF the car is in good condition. You can get most everything from North American FC's to fit that car if you want. People put Japanese parts in their North American market FC's all of the time.

You might check out Aaron Cake's Turbo FC buyer's guide to evaluate it for purchase:

Everything is the same with them except for the obvious (RHD related components) and a couple of insignificant emissions/wiring related parts on the engine. All the main parts, as well as the turbo/engine internals are identical.
