Reverting to stock radio

I am putting a stock radio back into a car that has had the harness cut. I have the into radio harness and it seems rather correct, but I am not getting anything showing on the display, but the anteena will go up and down when I hit the power button. There are no wide spade connectors(for the backup?) in the harness so I don't know what to do about that. Does anyone have or could take a picture of the back of a stock radio with the stock wire colors so I can try to wire this right. The radio is Type 2 w/ the equalizer. Found plenty on aftermarket radio wiring but not the other way around.

thanks,

Paul

I'm almost certain I have the speakers and power connector right (three prong on the right) but I will post the colors i have going into those as well when I go look at my car.

can anyone tell me which color stock wires go into these plugs? How would I handle the wide spade connecter on the cassette deck?

ah man, we covered this just this weekend

and From the FAQ for FC sticky thread found at the top of this, the 2nd gen RX-7 technical section:

What are the wire colors for adding aftermarket radio
LTBlue/Red= 12v+
LtBlue/White= +Accessory
LtBlue/Yellow= -power ant trigger
Red/Black=+ Lumination
White=Factory Amp Turn on

Ground to the body, use the 10mm bolt behind the center console front drivers access panel. Do not use the Red/Black as ground it will damage the interior light circuit and dimmer in the car

Front Speakers (maximum of a 15 watt peak from the radio):
LtGreen/Red= Left
LtGreen/Black= Left

LtGreen= Right
LtGreen/Yellow=Right

Rear Speakers (if applicable, if you have the amplified rear speakers again the Maximum of 15 watts peak is all the stock speaker amp input can handle):
Brown= Left rear
Brown/White= Left Rear

LtBlue= Right Rear
LtBlue/Orange=Right Rear

I actually used that picture from the FSM and your color scheme from that post to wire this up and I haven't gotten it to work. I am looking for confirmation of the color of the wires relative to where they go in the radio. I apologize if this seems like spoon feeding the info because really it is. The fact of the matter is that it isn't working and I haven't figured it out. Included is a pic of the wires I am worried about and I'd like to know which wires(color) go where... but I still don't know how to handle the male spade that is twice as wide and any connector I've found besides the one already on the radio... any input on how to handle that besides soldering directly?

Guess I am mis-understanding what you are missing?

Speaker amp is clearly found in the FAQ for FC:
White=Factory Amp Turn on
Back up/battery is again in the FAQ for FC:
LTBlue/Red= 12v+
And the large blade connector is just a .301 blade connector, found at many radio shacks and Digikey. I guess if you didn't want to use a connector then you could solder it.

IF your only complaint is that the display doesnt work...well...I have never seen a stock 89-91 deck where the display DOES work. The backlight comes on but the LCD's don't display unless you look at it from about a 60* angle.

FWIW, the harness on that car was cut when I got it about 4 years ago, so dont go thinking I hacked it up. :P
