Reverse lights problem

I just recently finished doing a clutch job on my 88 NA and i just noticed my reverse lights haven't been working, i checked the bullet connectors that connect to the switch in the transmission and i switched them which ended up making the reverse lights work for about three seconds and they haven't worked since. and all my bulbs and fuses and fine, i was wondering if there is any way to test the switch and possibly replace it with the transmission still in the car.

Common problem on FC/FD/NA and MPVs. Reverse light switch gumms up and fails. you can replace the switch with the tranny on the car.

You may wish to use the search function next time (found in the upper right hand corner of the page) as this subject has been covered before

go to schucks/kragen/checker auto parts. go online or go to a store. they have them there. the new unit they send you is sturdier and will last longer than the oem one, its easy to install. a lot of people have done this and yes you can do it with the tranny still in the car. 20 min install around $20-30
