reverse antenna problems

reverse

Hey
I have an 86 Rex. Everytime i trun the key the antenna motor makes a wierd grinding sound when the antenna is up. (the antenna also doesnt pull up all the way), when it is pulling down it makes a wierd click twice right when the antenna is about to recess in.
Anyone know wut i can do?

yeah the antenna is about ready to go.Same thing happened with mine.All you have to do is replace the mast part .Mazda trix has them and they also have a tech page on how to do it too.Good luck man

well the previous owner of my car actually removed all that...so you could do that? hehe.

Alrite, so i just have to get the mast and replace it with the old one? And i guess i can just do it at home...alrite man thanks a lot, the whip type is a good idea too, and i like the ripping it rite out. wieght reduction lol

If your local stations have good signal strength, just use the windshied in-glass antenna.
Then you can remove the rear antenna & plug the hole.

I'm actually running a 10 meter ham antenna back there.
(gives my car that RC model look)

When I got the car, the antenna had been snapped off. I bought a universal replacement electric antenna from Best Buy, ~$50. Fit great, and works great.
