Rev hunt, not just idle problem

Ok i did a search and everyone posted about an idle problem, but my problem is throughout the entire rev range. If i rev it to 4000 for example and leave it there, it hunts from 3500-4000rpm. It also does this at idle as well SO my question is, is it the tps like i think it is?? Im pretty sure there is no vaccum leak and i removed the throttle body, adjusted everything to spec and replaced. Starts up very nicely now but the problem is still there. Any help is appreciated!

I guess i should have mentioned turbo or not, not that it should matter should it?? Anyways its an 87 so im guessing thats an s4?? (sorry new to the world of rx7's) and its turbo. Now i was reading in a mazda manual last night and it was talking about the bac valve and how to adjust your idle with it, is it possible that my problem is because the bac valve is not functioning as all the vacuum lines to it and from have been sealed off??

ok new report. Im now convinced its the tps. Now i checked the ohms and they are all within spec BUT the engine hunts for an rpm throughout the entire rev range still. When i unplug the tps however the problem goes away completely except that it now idles smooth at 2500rpm which is where i set my cold start. When i rev it up it revs up fine but misfires and backfires of course because there is no tps signal as its disconnected. That being said however when i rev it up and hold it at 4000rpm it stays there whereas with the tps connected it hunts from about 4000-4300. It seems that the lower the rev the more it hunts and the higher i rev it up the window closes in to about 300rpm.

I have adjusted the tps to 1 ohm at idle and it reads 4.3 ohms at wot on the a-b connectors. Now another question, if i check the ohms at A-C should the reading be 5ohms at idle and 5 ohms at wot??

anythought please before i go buy a tps??

^ it might not fix the problem...you have to properly set your tps.
