restriction pill?

im having problems boosting over 8 psi on a stock turbo with the mods in my sig. im using an old HKS evc boost controller that seems to work fine, but i just cant get the boost above 8 in 1st or 2nd, and 10 in 3rd up. i cant even hit 10 in 3rd if i start from a dig and wind the gears out. ive heard that you need to put a restrictor pill in the vac line before the boost controller to limit airflow, but im not even sure how a restrictor pill works. can anyone give me some info?

The orifice pill is to keep the boost sensor from seeing short boost spikes & giving a fuel cut.
It's why the dash boost gauge reacts slower then your mechanical gauge.

Your FCD is preventing fuel cuts, so the pill is redundant.

Maybe the hose to the boost controller is too small?

My J-spec with ported wastegate is boosting 5-6-6-6-6 on the stock fuel, intake, & boost control setup.
The A-spec was boosting 8-10-12-12-12+ on the same identical setup. (yes it detonated)

I am suspecting the J-spec turbo or wastegate may be different.
Or maybe my wastegate port job was too good.
