Restored car+tree+value = I must prove it!
A few weeks ago, a tree fell on my fully restored 1991 coupe.
I paid the insurance for an 8,000 rider on my comprehensive coverage policy to cover damages up to that amount.
I have photos showing the quality of the car, the work done to make it that way, and even some receipts that show that I had the work done and the parts I bought.
I am now being asked to "prove" the cars' value, and I want to have all the force I can behind my evidence.
The only thing that I DON'T have, that the MIGHT ask for is a 3rd party appraisal.
I am looking for someone, to help me place a value on this car, as a 3rd party individual that can help me verify the cars' value to the insurance company.
Please note that there is NO request (or even need) to try to "fool" anyone at the insurance company.
The cars history and the work done stands on its own enough to possibly prove this all by itself. I have PAID my premiums for years for this $8,500 rider on my policy, so I have paid for this insurance, all that must be done is PROVE that I deserve it. (I'm mad how pictures, and my payments aren't enough already)
HOWEVER, given that they might request a 3rd party appraisal, I am looking for someone to assist me in obtaining this appraisal.
Please PM me and/or provide possible solutions as replies to this post, so that others in my situation can benefit.
Actual arrangements to appraise the car can me PM'd to me.
See the images and links below for background on this car.

Thanks,
But I have heard that my pictures and receipts can in many cases suffice, HOWEVER this post is a request to line up someone that might be willing to do the appraisal.

I do appraisals here, but its a tad far away.
And an insurance company will want an appraisal dated before the date of loss in most cases.
This isn't to say that the actual insurance appraiser won't peg the value close being that he can see the rest of the condition, but any time you're going well above book value (which for a non turbo FC will be ~3K) an appraisal upfront to back the coverage is usually standard.
To be honest I'm suprised you were able to purchase an $8500 rider without an appraisal...I guess they'll sell you anything nowadays.

HOpe it helps. It should make it easier to show that the car should be valued higher than the mass produced cars out there (cough cough HONDA cough)

You may be able to get an Independent Dealer to come out and assess your Vehicle, for a fee,Of course..My Idea, myself, would be to Take a Couple Threads from the RX7Club itself, with Pictures of Cars,That are For sale, and are of the Same Quality as your car, before Mother Nature Attacked it.If you can Compare those to your car, then you may be able to convince the Insurance company that it IS actually Worth what you stated it is..I know that is a long shot, but you never know, until you ask them,Right?..These cars, always seem to lose value, once you Put 2-3K in them.. with the new shocks, brakes,Racing seats, and 300 Wheel,I guess are not what the Insurance, deems to make the car more valuable..anyhow,Good luck.
