repurposing the stock hood scoop

So now that I have a fmic I was thinking about whether or not I should seal up the scoop somehow. I am assuming the top of the motor will be getting wet without the little plate that was attached to the stock ic that diverted water behind the throttle body. Should I be concerned about this as it sits now (just empty without the ic). Have any of you guys bothered to seal that up somehow?
I wonder if it is possible to modify it to blow ambient air towards the turbo side of the engine bay to aid in cooling the turbo/area. I would need to find a way to do it that would not allow rain to hit the turbo though.

Any thoughts guys? Worth pursuing?

I have a turbo hood on my vert and I have driven through torrential downpours and have never had an issue.

You could always find a rare reverse vented insert or make your own like a poster on this forum did but I can't find it now lol.

You could do that if you like. Just design the airway with a Y-fitting or a shelf so there is a scavenge path where the momentum and weight of the rain causes it to go out the scavenge path while the air goes to the cooling path. Maybe something like the attached image but you may want to build it upside down from what is pictured, depending on how you run the plumbing.
