If you apply dielectric grease, then you don't have to worry about corrosion between the hinge and hood.

I just found out the FC I bought has steel hinges on her alum hood. How often for the grease? Anyone know where I can find alum hinges for my baby?

You only need to grease once. Note that this is dielectric grease, which is not "all purpose" grease. It goes between the hinge and the hood.
