Replacing heater hose near firewall...

Hey,

Had a problem a while ago and the heater hose that runs underneath the oil filter to the firewall cracked.

I just got a replacement hose from Mazda and am wondering if I need to take anything apart to change this hose out. Or is it a fairly straightforward task?

I planned to drain the radiator first and then go at it, but I can't seem to see where the hose goes behind the engine. Please let me know. Thanks!

Its a stright forward task, I am replacing all 3 of my heater hoses tomorrow. You should be able to see both ends of the hoses, just follow the hose to both ends. If u drain the radiator first it should be a simple task. Good luck

I replaced mine recently. Make sure you check for oil leak problems from around the filter so that it oil wont get on the hose and make it soft and explode. (thats what mine did). Happend to me when i was 300 miles away from home.

It's far easier to replace It If you remove your Oil Filter. The rest Is straightforward...as 86GXL mentioned check for oil leaks at the Pedestal. 2 10mm nuts and you are In. Replace the 2 o-rings now. Sooner or later you'll have to anyway.
