replacing clutch myself

so my stock clutch is going out and i bought a stage 1 exedy off RB, and i dont make a lot so instead of paying a whole pay check on a clutch job, ive decided to do it myself and possibly some help from friends.
so my question is, do i need any special tools for it (s5 t2)? and any tips would be appreciated.

Clutch change is a great thing to do yourself, its challenging enough to feel like you did something worthwhile but easy enough that its manageable with friends.

Just a regular set of metric Sockets and wrenches will be needed, you will also want a smaller torque wrench for pressure plate bolts. If you resurface the flywheel you will need a 2 1/8 socket and probably an impact gun to take it off.

make sure when you go to auto parts store you buy one of those $3 input shaft alignment tool(plastic) that will be your best friend getting the new clutch disc lined up,if you can get your hands on a trans. jack it will be a breeze, but a floor jack will suffice though youll need to balance it when removing, dont recommend using both your knees which is what i did many years ago on my 80 5 speed model

The motor mounts will do the job. When you are putting the trans back in have someone push the top of the engine, it will push the back end of the engine down and allow you to slide in the trans much easier.

I can't stress this enough.
Replace All bearings..Throw out bearing,Pilot bearing and if you wanna make sure, the Input shaft bearing and seal on the transmission.
The clutch is cake to get off(14mm x 6 bolts) note that 2 or more of the bolts will be longer than the rest, and are not threaded all the way to the Top of the head of the bolt.so they are kind of Placement specific.( I place the flywheel so that those bolts go in at 8 and 4 oclock).
the Throw out bearing is Easy to get off and on without tools.
The Pilot bearing however is gonna require either a bearing puller ( you can rent at Napa.or whatever stores that loan a tool down there).
IF not you can take your chances and dremel it out.,I do this in a pinch, you just have to be patient.Dremel the lip of the pilot bearing, pull the Needle bearings and race out, then using a stone, create a line teh length of the pilot bearing.it will pretty well cut a 'slit in it"..then get e screwdriver and Collapse the bearing so you can gran it with needlenose and pull it out.
push the new one back in(grease a touch) and tap in with a socket that is slightly bigger than the bearing..Carefully.
after all that you can put the trans back on.
..TRICK:pull the plastic undertray off,Remove the fan blade assembly on the Fan pulley(4x10mm)put a piece of wood on the Main pulley and using the scissor jack, jack the front of the engine up9place jack under piece of wood) so that the Front is UP and the rear of engine is Down..watch out that you do not Over-jack the engine as you may break the Plastic vacuum piece on the Throttle body,,you just need the engine close to the firewall by about an inch.(watch heater core lines too)
THIS trick will allow you to manouver the trans UP and in,and also you can get at the BOLTS on top of the trans from under the car.
I've just done my trans,by myself...Number 8...
I am 51 with Degenerative discs and HIGH BP..so If I can do it,you CAN too!
